Luigi
Tonet, was born in Milan in 1950 and has been working in the music
industry for over 40 years. At the age of 7, he was a contralto soloist at
"Schola Cantorum Santa Cecilia ", and with the guidance of
maestro Don Mario Bevini, he acquired his initial musical knowledge and
learned to play a grand pipe organ. When he was 14, he bought a Hammond
keyboard and formed his first musical group, followed by many others;
among his former band members are some of today's most appreciated italian
composers. In 1974 he joined Albatros with Toto Cutugno, the collaboration
bearing many further successes, especially among french artists; as a
result, a song composed by Tonet was interpreted by Joe Dassin. During the
same time he started composing music for television (RAI and Mediaset),
movies and theater. After leaving Albatros he started his solo carrier
with CBS. A recognized Italian leader of electronic music, he was the
first to use a computer in order to make music (Roland Microcomposer MC8).
Very requested by the most prestigious recording studios (Stone Castle
Phonoprint), he worked on keyboard and programming with almost all the
Italian artists (Mina, Celentano, Vasco Rossi, Zucchero, Battiato, etc.).
His instruments at the time (Modular Moog III, Roland System 700, etc.)
were the same used by Isao Tomita and Hans Zimmer, with whom he
collaborated various times. During
the 80's and the 90's he proceeded with his activities in record companies,
alongside famous arrangers (Celso Valli. Fio Zanotti etc...). In the mean
time he published his first LP “WHY,” distributed by EMI, composed
countless other singles for TV (Mike Bongiorno) among which "Electric
Sky" aired for 1460 consecutive days, using samples historically for
the first time (360 System), and the evolution of samplers (Fairlight,
Emulator, Akay) would place him once again among the most appreciated
sessionmen in the best recording studios. In 1988, anticipating future
times, he created what is called today, in a more developed version,
D.A.W., with a Mac Computer and MIDI instruments. Having chosen to work at
home and for himself, he composed hundreds of background instrumentals
published all over Europe. Since the year 2000 he transfered to Moscow,
starting to compose, almost exclusively, music for film and TV series,
making himself appreciated by Russian producers and directors. Today,
thanks to the artistic producer Louis Viviers from the Idyllium office in
Russia, Gigi Tonet (alias LUIGI TONET), has been introduced to Sabino
Mogavero, owner of IDYLLIUM Music Publishing, Milan, Italy who published
in digital format for the above named record company, about over 5 volumes
of soundtracks by Gigi Tonet, particularly vol. 5 which contains 5 Cds
with a total of 114 tracks.
